Video 03 → This Isn't Funny, By The Way

[This is supposed to be filtered from Youji and Loki. It's not.]

[Ken is in his bedroom. The room is dark save for the light provided by a desk lamp, and he sits cross-legged on the bed dressed in an oversized sweater and jeans. Despite the heavy clothing and the hunched posture it's quite obvious that something is off, and it's not just the bruises and band-aids.]

Um. This happens a lot, right? And it wears off?

['This' being the bit where Ken is quite clearly a girl, and nobody's yet told her there are limits to the sins an oversized sweater can disguise. Clearly the bruises aren't the half of it. As to exactly how this happened, suffice it to say that Ken is not exactly Loki's number one fan right now...

[She looks guiltily about herself for no readily explicable reason, then relaxes.]

... how long does it take?

[Ken hasn't stopped blushing yet, but at the renewed reference to her... uh, figure, she crosses one hand back across her chest. She manages not to drop the Dreamberry this time, admittedly, so that's one step in the right direction...]

No! I... I meant I look pretty much the same but like a guy! Guys don't have--

[Another very awkward pause.]

Well, I don't!

[Okay, Rise can't hold in her laughter this time.]

I was just kidding, Ken-san. Gee, I didn't think you'd take it that seriously.

S... sorry. I guess I really do need to lighten up a bit.

[She manages another slightly guilty grin.

[This girl is starting to remind her of someone. And it's not just the red hair, either.]

[Smiles a little as well.] Yeah, that might help. At least you won't be jumping at every single thing, right?

I don't normally! It's just been... uh, kinda a weird week, all things considered. You've been having a better one, right?

Yeah, it's been a little boring for me but I'll take the quiet compared to the crazy things this place can pull sometimes.

Yeah... I've not been here very long but this place does seem, well, good at that. Felt like I'd only been here five minutes when everyone started having nightmares for a damn week...

I really hope that ain't gonna happen a lot.

You were around for that, huh? The nightmare thing was pretty bad but that's the first time it's happened since I got here.

Yeah, just. Pretty much the first thing I remember happening - it got freezing cold, everyone started having nightmares, and then I woke up in this warehouse and if anyone figured out a way out that place they sure didn't tell me. Then we all die and get out and my friend goes missing and this happens.

It's been... kinda an odd few weeks.

Could just be a bad patch... I guess I didn't choose a good time to show up and the rest I kinda walked into. Could probably have avoided it if I'd been less of an idiot. I can't exactly blame the place for that one.

Yeah, that'd be it. It's... kind of a stupid story, really. I'll be fine in a few days.
